Stable Situations: Sprinkles and Cupcake

Julie had no idea what was in store when a friend reached out about a donkey they saw on Craigslist that needed a new home. The donkey, now named Sprinkles, was in need of some tlc and a soft place to land. Julie took her Facility Manager (her dad) John with her to be a ‘voice of reason’ when deciding if this sweet mini donkey was meant to come home to Misty Acres…. What was his brilliant advice, you ask? “Look in her eyes. She needs you!!!”

Obviously, they loaded her up and brought her straight home to Misty Acres! It was the 22nd of November, 2016, and the whole Misty Acres Farm Family was so excited to have their very first donkey. Things were going great, Sprinkles was loving her new stall and bonding with Sundae when something strange happened; Sprinkles was growing! More than expected based on how much she was eating, so Julie started investigating.

Thanks to our amazing Vet Team at East West Vet Care, It turns out, Sprinkles was carrying a stowaway: she was pregnant! A few months later, Cupcake (affectionately known as Cuppy) was born, the first baby born on the farm. The surprise baby was well received and Cupcake became known as the hugging donkey with quite the personality!

Today, Sprinkles and Cupcake are living a very pampered life at Misty Acres with their best friend Sundae, having frequent spa days (some including donkey pedicures complete with sparkly pink hoof polish!) and making friends with everyone they meet. They’ve been working with kiddos in the children’s program and bringing joy to everyone at the farm since the day they came home to the farm of rescues and love.
